Obama On Socialism
Over the weekend, Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) spoke about his plans for controlling the behavior of American citizens once he is elected President of the US:
"We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK," Obama said.
"That's not leadership. That's not going to happen," he added.
For the record, we drive a Toyota RAV4, an SUV that gets roughly 25 miles per gallon (city/highway) in our experience, with either 2, 3, 4 or 5 passengers in the car about 90% of the time. We also keep our thermostat at about 65 degrees F in the winter, and have a food budget that includes a good percentage of organic meat, fruits and vegetables.
Obama has some nerve implying that the food at my dinner table, thermostat setting in my house and make of our family car are subject to approval by some foreign government. This brand of socialism, which includes massive tax hikes for net savers like me, is the primary reason why Barack Obama will never get my vote.
